Farm Manager:
Responsible for the daily planning, organization, supervision and administration of farming activities at Wheatley Farms in Brookville (Glen Head) Long Island, NY.?
Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting agricultural food products for consumption, including storage/handling techniques.? Care and maintenance of livestock including goats, sheep, chickens, horses and rabbits.? This position works in conjunction with clinical, therapeutic and fine arts staff to create a healthy, wholesome environment for people with and without disabilities to therapeutically engage with the soil, land and animals.? The Farm manager must adhere to all regulations for safe, high-quality produce farmed in an environmentally sustainable manner and will work to ensure organic certification (NOP) of the program.
This position calls for Live-in status.? As a live-in staff, the person will have responsibility to care for the animals throughout the week and on weekends ensuring the safety and well-being, and participating in other activities as designated by their supervisor.

Farm Manager requires:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness, Farm Management or another related subject required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years? of progressive experience with operating a farm, horticulture, marketing and processing of farm products and livestock

  • Experience coordinating diverse programs and services designed for people with disabilities.

  • Experience with assisted animal therapy, outdoor education.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
